SIBCR Emergency Response Plan
SIBCR functions within the VAPSHCS facilities. As an SIBCR employee, you have a duty to comply with the safety rules as set forth by the VAPSHCS Research and Development Service. Each employee should be aware of and have read these plans. Attendance of the annual safety meeting and other mandatory trainings is required for all SIBCR employees.
Become familiar with the location of your nearest exit, fire alarm and extinguisher.
Evacuation
In the event of an emergency evacuation (e.g. earthquake, fire, terrorist attack, national emergency, etc.) all SIBCR personnel located in building 1 will assemble in the big parking lot located past the courtyard next to the Fisher House. Employees located in building 100 will assemble in the parking lot in front of the Medical Center. All other buildings will assemble in the parking lot next to building 7 or across the street in the parking lot directly across from building 7.
Staff is to take charge of any clients/visitors you may have visiting during an evacuation and make sure they are safely outside in the meeting area.
DO NOT RETURN TO AN EVACUATED BUILDING UNLESS TOLD TO DO SO.
Accounting for Employees
After evacuation, report immediately to the designated assembly area. Supervisors should determine if anybody is missing and report to the R&D Safety Officer, Corinne Gajdusek.
First Aid
There is a First Aid Kit located in Room 520. In the event of an emergency/evacuation, qualified R&D personnel will assist as required.
